College & Career Readiness—Being Ready for What’s Next

College, technical education, credentials, or other postsecondary training is the expected next step after high school. Upward Bound helps students build the academic skills, confidence, habits, and information needed to choose and complete a path aligned with their goals while maintaining the program’s federal postsecondary-access purpose.

Readiness includes:
✓ managing time and staying organized
✓ solving problems and thinking critically
✓ communicating and working with different people
✓ exploring careers, majors, credentials, and schools
✓ understanding admission, financial-aid, and scholarship steps
✓ gaining approved real-world and leadership experiences
✓ making an individualized postsecondary plan

Students are expected to work with staff, meet deadlines, and follow through on the plan they develop. The resources below support exploration; they do not replace advising or current information from the institution, credential provider, or employer.
